Pruning and cutting down trees near power lines is regulated by law. By law, only Hydro-Québec or a professional tree trimmer authorized by Hydro-Québec is allowed to carry out tree pruning or cutting work that might require a person, part of a tree or a tool to come within 3 m of a medium-voltage line at any time.
